Growing instructions:

These tiny seeds are light germinators, which is why they should only be covered thinly or not at all with a growing medium (soil/cactus soil mixture) for germination.

Then fill the propagation pots with a loose propagation soil mixture (cactus soil or propagation soil with perlite), spray with water, place the seeds on the soil and preferably do not cover them. Cover the pots with plastic foil and air them daily or keep the soil moist. The pots can also be placed in suitable propagators until the seeds have germinated and the seedlings are a few centimetres tall.

It is important to ensure a supply of fresh air at least once a day to prevent and avoid mold.
The seeds need a lot of light and sufficient heat for germination, because they will not germinate

After germination of the seeds, the seedlings can be very slowly acclimatized to the drier indoor air or fresh air outdoors after a few weeks, at a height of approx. 3-4 cm.

Requires outdoors a sunny location and a well water-draining substrate or soil in which the seedlings or young plants are placed. If young plants are cultivated outdoors, they should nevertheless be somewhat protected - especially from the wind. If necessary, cultivation in a greenhouse with sufficient sunlight is recommended.

Interesting facts about Scoparia Dulcis:

Vassourinha has long been used in herbal medicine in every tropical country where it grows. Its use by indigenous peoples is well documented. Indigenous tribes in Ecuador brew a tea of the whole plant to reduce swelling and pain. The Tikuna Indians make a decoction of it for washing wounds and women drink the same decoction for three days every month during menstruation as a contraceptive and/or to induce abortions. In the rainforests of Guyana, indigenous tribes use a leaf decoction as an antiseptic for wounds, as a remedy for nausea in infants, as a soothing bath to treat fevers and as a remedy for migraines.

In Peru, a decoction of the whole plant is recommended for upper respiratory problems, biliary colic or congestion, menstrual cramps and fever; the leaf juice of this plant is used externally for wounds and hemorrhoids. In Brazilian herbal medicine, the plant is used to reduce fever, lower blood sugar and blood pressure and as an expectorant for coughs and lung problems. The leaves or aerial parts of the plant are used to prepare a tea for fever and urinary tract disorders, upper respiratory tract diseases, bronchitis, coughs, menstrual problems and high blood pressure.

In India and other countries, Vassourinha is administered to infertile men, smoked as a substitute for marijuana or used by people as an herb for "counter-spells".
