Information about Copal:

Copal is a natural tree resin that can be classified into two states - it is neither a hardened resin nor a sap. Copal resin comes from trees of the Buresa family, which is considered a medicinal tree for the Mayans and other indigenous peoples in southern Mexico, Indonesia, etc.. These medicinal trees are traditionally used to rid the body of disease and to keep mosquitoes away.

Copal incense has been considered sacred to the people of Mexico and South and Central America since ancient times. It dates back to the Mayan and Aztec cultures. Massive quantities of copal resin were burned on the Aztec and Mayan pyramids as offerings to the gods and deities. In the Mayan ruins, copal was discovered in the burial grounds, which proves its spiritual significance.

The fragrant resin extracted from these trees is actually not yet hard enough to be a true resin and not soft enough to be a sap. Nevertheless, we call it copal resin and cherish its ephemeral state by burning it and allowing it to transform once more.

The uplifting positivity of copal smoke is believed to open the crown chakra. It works to clear the mind of anxiety and negative thoughts. Copal resin breaks through the blocks that stagnate the circulation of your energy.

We are not the first to use copal for therapeutic practices. Copal incense was also a popular spiritual cleanser among the ancient Maya and Aztecs. Both the Maya and the Aztecs used copal resin as an offering. They burned the copal resin on their pyramids as a gift to the gods, and the Maya even burned copal at their tombs.
