Sowing instructions

Want to discover the fascinating world of carnivorous plants? Drosera intermedia is an ideal choice! First prepare a moist, peaty soil for sowing. It is best to mix 70% peat with 30% sand or perlite. The seeds should only be sprinkled lightly on the surface and not covered, as they need light to germinate. Make sure that the soil remains constantly moist and place the seed tray in a bright location, but out of direct sunlight. After about 4-6 weeks you should be able to see the first sprouts.

Harvest, use & storage

Drosera intermedia develops over the months into a beautiful plant with sticky tentacles that attract and digest insects. The plant requires no additional fertilization as it gets its nutrients from the insects it catches. You can cultivate the plant as you wish and collect its seeds for future sowing. Store the seeds in a cool and dry place, ideally in an airtight container, to maintain their germination capacity for several years.

Tips & Tricks

Make sure that your Drosera intermedia is watered regularly with rainwater or demineralized water to avoid salinization of the soil. Additional lighting in winter can help to promote growth. If you cultivate the plant outdoors, make sure to protect it from frost.
