Growing instructions:

Seed germination can be improved by prior soaking in water or diluted gibberellic acid.

These seeds belong to the dark germinators, which is why they must be buried approx. 1-1.5cm deep in growing medium.

Fill seed pots with a mixture of growing soil and cactus soil, spray with water, place the seeds on the soil and press the seeds down lightly. Cover with a 1-1.5cm layer of substrate and spray with water again to keep it moist but not wet. It is best to cover the growing pots with plastic wrap and aerate daily or keep the soil moist. Plant lights are highly recommended as these also help to ensure the minimum temperature of 20 degrees Celsius for seed germination.

The pots should be placed in suitable indoor greenhouses for successful germination and growing of the seeds until the seeds have germinated and the seedlings are a few centimetres tall. It is important to ensure a supply of fresh air at least once a day to prevent and avoid mould.

After germination of the seeds, the seedlings can be slowly accustomed to drier indoor air or fresh air outdoors after a few weeks.

Requires semi-shade to sunny outdoors (best protected from direct midday sun), sufficient water and good fertilisation!

We use high quality plant soil with sufficient perlite, clay granulate and/or volcanic stone granulate for the plants.

Wissenswertes zu Manaka:

Die indigenen Völker des Amazonasgebiets haben Manaka für rituelle Heilungszeremonien sowie für magische und religiöse Zwecke verwendet. Der Schamane des Kofan-Stammes trinkt einen Tee, der aus den Wurzeln und der Wurzelrinde der Pflanze hergestellt wurde, um in den Körper eines kranken Patienten zu sehen. Die Pflanze ermöglicht es dem Schamenen, die Art der Erkrankung zu verstehen und den Patienten zu heilen. Viele Stämme im Amazonas-Einzugsgebiet fügen ihren Ayahuasca-Gebräu Blätter, Wurzeln und Wurzelrinde von Brunfelsia grandiflora hinzu, um ein Gebräu herzustellen, das von den Pflanzen- und Tiergeistern gesegnet wird. In Peru werden die Wurzeln manchmal einen Monat lang als Pflanzenlehrer genommen. Es wird gesagt, dass die älteren, dicken Wurzeln giftig sind, während die jungen Wurzeln, die 1,5 cm oder darunter sind, für die Verwendung sicher sind. Eine Dosis besteht im Allgemeinen aus zwei oder drei Wurzeln (Plowman 1977).

Alle Teile dieser Pflanze sind giftig, weshalb man sehr bedacht und vorsichtig damit umgehen sollte!
