Sowing instructions
Sowing the Daucus carota "Solar Yellow" is quite simple. You should start sowing in early spring, from March until July. Choose a sunny to partially shaded location so that the carrots can develop their full flavor. The seeds should be sown about 1-2 cm deep in loose, humus-rich soil. Make sure to keep a row spacing of 30 cm and a planting distance of about 5 cm within the row. The germination period is usually 10-20 days. Keep the soil evenly moist during the germination phase, but avoid waterlogging. You will soon discover small plants that develop beautifully.
Harvest, use & storage
The bright yellow carrots are ready to harvest after around 12-16 weeks. You will notice that they are not only a visual highlight, but also have a sweet, mild flavor. Ideal for raw food, salads or as a cooked vegetable. After harvesting, you should store the carrots in a cool, dark room. Wrapped in sand, they stay fresh and crunchy for a particularly long time. Alternatively, you can also freeze them if you want to keep some of the harvest for longer.
Tips & Tricks
So that your Solar Yellow-To ensure that carrots grow particularly straight and evenly, loosen the soil well. Stones and solid lumps can hinder growth. Thin out the young plants in good time to give the roots enough space. A mixed crop with onions or leeks can keep pests such as the carrot fly away. Don't forget to water regularly, especially during dry periods, to keep the carrots juicy and tender.

The Daucus carota "Solar Yellow" originally comes from the early cultivated forms of the carrot, which were bred in different colors. The yellow color comes from the carotenoids it contains, which are not only good for the eyes but also a valuable source of antioxidants.
