Sowing instructions

Cichorium endivia "Curly de Ruffec" is a crunchy and refreshing endive that is perfect for growing in the home garden. Start sowing in early spring or late summer. Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil. Sow the seeds at a depth of around 0.5 cm and keep a distance of 25 to 30 cm between the plants to ensure sufficient space for them to grow. Germination takes place within 7 to 14 days at an optimum temperature of 15 to 20 °C.

Tips and tricks

To achieve the best results, it is important to water the plants regularly and keep the soil evenly moist. Use a layer of mulch to retain moisture and prevent weed growth. An additional cover of fleece can help keep pests away and keep the leaves tender and crisp. Make sure to harvest the outer leaves regularly to encourage new leaf growth.

The "Curly de Ruffec" variety is characterized by its decorative, finely curled leaves with a pleasant bitterness. This endive is rich in vitamins and minerals, especially vitamins A and C as well as potassium and calcium. It is not only a delight in salads, but also a valuable ingredient in hot dishes.
